Recently, my team and I worked at home, and after we finished, our hair, clothing, and shoes were covered in cobwebs.
Now cobwebs bring spiders and can cause an infestation. If you let your loved one live in a home that is not vacuumed or broom swept periodically, or cleaned on a regular basis, cobwebs begin to blossom.
When cobwebs grow and develop, dust accumulates in the air conditioning and heating system, which your loved one will inhale through the air ducts. This is not good for the respiratory system.
If there is a basement or lower level, this should be vacuumed or swept regularly. If there is a garage – sweep it once a month and be sure to include the patio, around the front door, and back door which tracks leaves, dust, and dirt into the house.
As your loved one matures, pay attention to how they are living. If they are aging in place, keep their home intact with repairs. If your loved one lives out of state, have a friend check on them and report back on how they are eating, the tidiness of their home, and their mental condition.
A great present/gift to give to a loved one who struggles to keep their home clean is to purchase them a maid service once a week or twice a month, especially for the bathroom and kitchen area. This will be a gift most appreciated.
