What services does Complete Relocation Solutions offer?
De-cluttering, downsizing, rightsizing, re-settling, and home organizing. We assist with sorting room to room to decide on what to keep, donate, liquidate, or discard. We make all logistical arrangements for moving locally or nationwide which includes: packing, unpacking, arranging and executing all logistics of the transition, planning and organizing all arrangements as well as third-party resources for home repair, painting, and/or detailed professional home and window cleaning.
How does Complete Relocation Solutions help with downsizing and decluttering?
The homeowner or family member works alongside us. Sorting through every drawer, cabinet, closet, under the bed and in between the mattress per room, asking if this item is a keep, donate, sell, or discard. We have large colored trash bags and put donations in one and discard (torn, stained, or broken) items in another bag. Items we believe could be sellable we set them aside for auctioneer, estate liquidator, or estate sale to be performed. We remove donations the day we work to eliminate clutter with homeowners approval.
Do I have to be a senior to use your moving and organizing services?
No. We love assisting any individual or family who might have a career relocation or the family is needing to upsize from their existing home. In addition, when life cycle events happen such as a death or divorce, we assist the individual in finding a happy place to start their next chapter.
How much does it cost to downsize, declutter, pack, and move a typical home?
There is not a “typical or normal” home. Because there is not a “typical” individual or family. Every project is unique because of the people. All situations may be similar but there are many variables. On our first free consultations, we have that discussion and learn about your expectations, goals, and end result expectations. There might be a time when all goes smooth until a bump along the way happens. We smooth out that bump and keep moving forward. After our initial visit, a detailed proposal is sent via e-mail with estimated hours and pricing in three stages
Can you work within my budget for a downsizing or relocation project?
Yes. Also, depending upon your project, we are very up front about what we can provide and what we can’t. We understand that all budgets are different and keep you posted on where we stand on hours and money so there are no hidden surprises or fees.
What do you do with items that don’t sell during downsizing?
We have a conversation with the homeowner and discuss why it hasn’t sold. We discuss re-purposing those items to charity organizations that support veterans, families who had fire in their home, homeless, and more. Items are not put in the landfill and receipts are given at the end of the project.
Do you help liquidate or sell furniture and household items?
Yes. We have great resources for local estate liquidators, auctioneers, and estate sales. In addition, depending if the household has a collection of coins, stamps, art, and specialty collections, we have auction houses around the country we use.
Why should I hire a NASMM-certified senior move manager?

I can only speak to our firm Complete Relocation Solutions. We are certified, insured and bonded. We have the training, the strength, and endurance to complete your project. I always tell my prospects on the first visit, if you don’t like how and what we are doing you have our permission to tell us. It’s your project. We respect your wishes. Most of all we are kind, considerate, understanding, and go beyond the scope of the project to make it excellent for the client. If you don’t like us you can terminate the agreement. In addition, as a NASMM AND NAPO member our firm abides by a code of ethics.
How quickly can services begin for moving, downsizing, or home organization?
Once we have met either in home or virtual a proposal is sent. If the homeowner is in agreement with the proposal and our schedule – we can start as soon as the homeowner is ready. We ask if they have a particular room they want to start in and we begin our sorting, de-cluttering, donation, and discard process. The homeowner works alongside us in determining what they want to keep and so on. We sit them down and handle the hard labor for them.
What areas does Complete Relocation Solutions serve?
Our service area is a 60-minute radius of central Indianapolis. If a family should live outside of the 60-minute radius and we are available we charge for travel mileage.
How do I start the process of downsizing or moving with Complete Relocation Solutions?
We ask where they are moving to. Do they have a floor plan of the new location, which is helpful. We can develop a floor plan of the new location identifying that brings them “love, joy and happiness” and we tag those items. We ask the homeowner which room they wish to start in. I like to pick an easy room first so they feel the sense of accomplishment right off the bat. We start in one room at a time. Go around the room in drawers, cabinets, closets deciding on keep, sell, donate or discard. If they don’t know what to sell or donate we tell them based on years of experience and what the market is buying.
Can you help if my parents or loved ones need to relocate but feel overwhelmed?
Of course. If the parent(s) or loved one is unable to make decisions we ask one family member to partner with us. If all families are out of state we can perform “facetime” chats. If the resident is moving to a studio, one, or two bedroom apartment, we get a floor plan, then measure and plan which furniture brings them the most “love, joy and happiness” that they must take. We arrange the room with lamps, TV, and all home decor from their home. We have even ordered lift chairs or recliners for residents if they didn’t have one. We get shower curtains, new bedding, and linens with the homeowners approval. We set up their next chapter with ease and comfort.
Do you assist with estate cleanouts after a loved one passes away?
Yes. We work alongside the family whether they are in town or out of state. We ask the family to go through the home first and tag the items they want. If the family member is out of state we can arrange shipping. If local with large furniture pieces, we can arrange a move to bring to your home. We go through our sorting process on what is best to sell, donate, shred, and discard. We can review all papers in the home to find if anything is over 7 years (we always suggest keeping 7 years worth for IRS.) Once the family members review, sell, donate, and shred the piles, we take donations to charity and anything that needs to be shredded to an authorized dealer. We bring in estate liquidators or auction houses to give quotes on items to be sold and arrange to have the home professionally cleaned and ready for the real estate market.
Do you provide full packing, unpacking, and home setup services?
Absolutely. We bring all the packing material needed for the project. If the client wants us to unpack locally at the new location, we discuss their particular needs and wants. If they will be moving out of state, I contact one of our NASMM colleagues in the area to assist. We make their beds, hang up clothes, set up the bathroom and linens, and unpack the kitchen. We suggest living in the home for a couple of weeks and come back and hang up pictures. If approved by the homeowner, we take pictures that were located in one room of the last home and place it in a new location to make them feel like it’s a new picture. When moving into a retirement community, studio, one, or two bedroom apartment, we hang the pictures that day if there is time. We also remove all packing supplies the day we work to eliminate clutter.
What is a senior move manager, and how can they help with my transition?
Senior Move Management has been a new industry since 2004. Since many of the Great Depression era needed help downsizing and moving, the Senior Move Management industry was created and has exploded internationally. Complete Relocation Solutions is a certified senior move manager and began business in 2008. As an ongoing basis, our firm actively attends and participates in training to keep our knowledge updated in so many areas of a “mature citizens” life. From the emotional side, programs in dementia, Parkinsons, and other disorders, as well as packing and working with qualified movers, hiring and training qualified staff, and most importantly to us, providing confidentiality and kindness to our clients. It’s hard to make a change and we understand that. Our clients get to know us as well we get to know them. We develop a special bond. It’s about the people, not just the boxes.
Seniors or their adult children will call and tell us they are overwhelmed on where to start downsizing for their parent’s new location- where do they start?
First we like to make a no charge home visit (if the location is within the central Indianapolis, IN area) to meet one another, sit at the kitchen table and learn about their goals and the project. It is important to us, as well as the homeowner, to build trust and confidence on who comes into their home.
We live in a 2 story home with 3 bedrooms. How much do you charge to downsize, declutter, move, pack this type of “normal” project?
There is no “normal” because every situation is different and so are the homeowners. Every homeowner has their special needs and requests. After our home visit, a proposal is sent via e-mail with a clearly written description on “the homeowners” request and needs in three stages. An estimated number of hours is proposed for completion, but we work hard to come in and work with their budget.
If I have a budget will you work with that budget to help us on the project?
Absolutely. We recommend we take care of the hard “stuff” and let you do the easier items on the list. We always get your approval first before we attempt to do anything.
How do you liquidate or sell items?
Depending upon what the items are, but furniture and cars re-sell the best. Again, depending upon what is for sale we use auctioneers (locally & nationwide), estate liquidators, and can run an on-line estate sale if there are enough items to be sold. In almost all cases, it is what the prospective buyers in the marketplace are willing to pay. Everyone wants something for “cheap”. The marketplace varies… antiques, fine China, crystal, brown, modern, mid-century furniture. It fluctuates.
What do you do with household items that do not sell?
Those items are either donated, re-purposed, or discarded. Anything broken, torn, stained, smoked filled, and pet hair on the furniture are discarded. We are careful not to place items in the landfill. There are many charities who will take certain items, i.e. medical equipment or linens to animal shelters, books to the library, etc.
What type of services does CRS provide as a senior move manager ? Do I have to be a senior to use your service?
We love working with all individuals, families, or couples in assisting in de-cluttering and organizing a single room or garage, downsizing, floor planning, packing, making all logistic arrangements for moving, arranging a colleague to assist unpacking it out of state, and more.
We have reliable, qualified third-party resources to assist in house and window cleaning, yard clean up, household repairs, and more. We go the extra mile to make your project complete and stress free. For example: we walked into a client’s home and the husband told us the wife didn’t have any pajamas. I told him I would be back in 45 min. Went and purchased 2 night gowns and 2 pairs of pajamas right then and there. We make it right!
A loved one passed away. My sibling and I live out of state but need to clear out the home and get it ready for real estate showings? Help?
We meet with the siblings or family when they are in town, on zoom, or on telephone calls. We tell them how and what we do. Write a proposal based upon what is expected after we view the house. We ask to communicate with one person from the family on updates. We can ship anything anywhere to family members. We try to sell, donate, and re-purpose household items. We arrange to have the house and windows cleaned, arrange for new carpeting or carpet cleaning, and any household repairs, if any of those items are necessary. We have a complete trusted resource to help the family. We can ship any family items as well. We not only communicate frequently with 1 family member but also the realtor. In most cases we ask the family what items are they looking for i.e. car title, jewelry, deed to the house, insurance papers.
