Moving Into Your Children’s Home

Are you considering moving into your adult children’s home?

Here are some questions to ask and think about before you make the leap:

  1. Will you have separate areas for living? Or will you be in one room and share a bathroom?

2.  Will you be expected to pay any rent or purchase food? If so, what is expected?

3. Do you even want to live in that city, if you are leaving your local area?

4. Will you be expected to take care of the animals in the home, if there are any?

5. Will you be expected to take care of younger children, if both adult children work? What are the hours?

6. Will you be expected to drive children to outside activities?

7. How well do you like or love your “in law” (daughter or son in law)?

Of course, it is best to sit down with your adult children and have a heart to heart conversation on
“what if”, expectations of each other and more. If there are younger children, get them in on the conversation and ask them their thoughts and feelings, and any concerns they might have.
