Here is a list of personal items that should be in your binder:
- Fine or estate jewelry with any appraisals – make sure to include any written wishes on who receives certain pieces
- Collections (stamps, coins, art, wine, pottery, etc.)- include the location, tag who will be recipient(s) or if you want all or some of it to go to a charity
- Marriage license, birth and/or death certificate, passport, copy of driver’s license, prenuptial agreement, divorce papers, social security card, military record (including discharge papers), copies of credit cards (with phone numbers and passwords), baptism or christening papers
- Safe and /or locked file cabinet at home (combo # or key and location)
- Gun(s) location, gun safe combo or key and license permit
- Car(s) title and location of the keys to the car(s)
- Is there a storage unit? Make sure to include the location, key and passcode to get into the unit.
- College diplomas (copy) and any special degrees (copy)
- Name of your favorite charity for future donations, gifting and in memory of
- Investigate having your airline miles transferred to your beneficiary
- Consider creating a life celebration in person, video, or party while you are alive for others to share their memories.
